Do you want your child to participate in mother-tongue lessons?
A student who has a guardian with another mother-tongue other than Swedish is offered mother-tongue lessons. This applies if that language is the students main language of interaction and that the student has basic knowledge in that language. (Skollagen 10 kap 7§).
Mother-tongue lessons cannot include more than one language per student.
The education is voluntary and is often held outside of school hours.
An adopted child can also be offered mother-tongue lessons (Skolförordningen 5 kap. 7 §).
The minimum number to start a mother-tongue group is 5 students within the municipality who have applied for the mother-tongue and that there is a teacher available.
